Co-founder @ Mendral (YC W26), The AI DevOps Engineer | ex-Docker (1st hire, VP Eng)

Founding Engineer@Mendral
I am hiring at Mendral!
We have two open positions right now and we are intentionally taking our time to fill them. People sometimes ask why we don't just recruit every talented engineer we know from our network. There are a few reasons for this. First, joining an early-stage startup is a highly specific career stage. Many of my friends have moved on to great roles at massive companies like Apple, Netflix, or Anthropic. Second is the fact that this post AI life requires an entirely different engineering skill set. We used to evaluate engineers based on how well they code, how fast they write lines, and how productive they are individually. Tools like Cursor and Copilot changed the definition of productivity. Syntax is now (essentially) a commodity. Today, the primary skill is directing a network of autonomous agents toward an outcome, and designing your own loops. Because the nature of the work shifted, we prefer to eliminate risk when building our core group. If we find the right core engineer next week, we will hire them on the spot. If not, we wait. You can apply to our founding dev role and founding engineer role in the comments. Tag a friend who might be a good fit or DM me.

always wanted to work on agentic workflows, building loops with autonomous agents sounds like a fun challenge

This looks like an exceptionally strong founding role for engineers who want to build real systems.
