Robotics EngineerStoneforge
Vineet S. leads robotics and embedded systems at StoneForge. If something here moves, it went through him: the frame, the motors, the wiring, and the board that decides what happens next.
I first met him through combat robotics, at RoboWars. Before StoneForge he worked on underwater robots, AUVs and ROVs, and on defense projects.
Within a week of joining he had our wheeled rover rig running. Later he built its full control system too.
Right now he's on the quadcopter that will carry our scanner through basements. Two floors underground there's no GPS, so it navigates on lidar, beacons and optical flow. Getting there cost more propellers than I can count. It flies fine now.
He's also the reason we once drank drill-whipped coffee. We don't have an espresso machine, and he wanted that foamy café texture, so he fitted a whisk into our Bosch drill. That coffee was from some other universe.
That's the most Vineet thing about him. If we don't have the right tool for a job, he finds a way to get it done anyway.
If you'd rather debug a flight controller than polish a CV, you'd get along with him.
