Founding EngineerScaleSafe
I spent a little over nine years at SEBI, from September 2014 to December 2023, starting as an Assistant Manager in enforcement. This year I founded ScaleSafe Compliance Solutions. This post is about why, and about where I think compliance is heading.
Regulation for capital-market intermediaries is detailed, and it keeps moving. At its meeting of 24 September 2026 alone, the SEBI Board approved new Portfolio Managers Regulations, a revised Accredited Investor framework, a Common Advertisement Code and wider investor protection for AIFs, among other items. The Portfolio Managers Regulations and the Common Advertisement Code have since been notified, both applying from April 2027.

Today, for many smaller IA, RA, PMS and AIF teams, compliance still lives in spreadsheets, inboxes and people's memory. That will not scale to what is coming.
The future I am building towards: the day a rule is notified, every obligation is mapped, every task has an owner and a deadline, and the evidence is ready before anyone asks for it.
That is what we are building at ScaleSafe: a compliance operating layer that keeps obligations, owners, deadlines and evidence in one workflow. It is designed to sit alongside professional legal and compliance judgment, not to replace it.
Our head office is in Mumbai and our technology team is in Bengaluru, and we are hiring a Founding Engineer to help build it (link in the comments).
Over the coming weeks I will write here about building compliance technology, how regulation turns into day-to-day operations, and what we learn along the way.
