Zepto is hiring We are looking for a Commodity Desk Manager- Private Label (Bangalore) Role Objective: Lead the commodity desk for key staple categories, driving competitive sourcing, commodity intelligence, price-risk management and sustainable margin improvement. The role will build a data-driven procurement strategy by connecting market intelligence, crop forecasts, mandi prices, import parity, vendor relationships and internal demand planning to deliver the best possible purchase cost. KRA: 1. Purchase cost competitiveness: Actual landed cost versus an agreed, quality-adjusted market benchmark. 2. Realised savings: Verified procurement savings against an approved baseline. 3. Forecast accuracy: Accuracy of 3-, 6- and 12-month commodity price forecasts. 4. Margin improvement: Contribution to category gross margin and net margin. 5. Strategic sourcing: Share of procurement through direct sourcing, alternate origins and approved strategic contracts. What we are looking for: 1. 8–12 years of experience in commodity procurement, strategic sourcing, agricultural trading, FMCG procurement or food processing. 2. Strong understanding of Indian agricultural commodities, mandis, crop cycles, procurement channels and commodity price drivers. 3. Experience in at least two or three of the following: rice, pulses, sugar, edible oils, wheat, spices or dry fruits. 4. Strong commercial negotiation skills and experience managing large procurement budgets. 5. Excellent analytical capabilities, including advanced Excel and dashboard-based reporting; Power BI and SQL are advantageous. 6. Understanding of landed-cost calculations, commodity quality parameters, storage economics and working-capital management. 7. Ability to translate market intelligence into practical buying decisions and measurable financial outcomes.
