PSA: To everyone who has questions about the "Data space":
1- I don't know if a player in our space did "USD xx M" a month
2- Yes, it's all one time revenue - not recurring. You need to dig the well EVERY MONTH.
3- Gross Margins vary based on what part of the game are they playing (expert marketplace, institutional data, or RLE)
4- I don't know if the space is venture-fundable - most likely no. Since in many cases, the numbers you hear for ARR are neither recurring nor actual revenue (GMV).
5- Cash flow cycles are brutal - you spend on inference, data acq and marketplace talent upfront - then if the lab has to accept your data (60 days), you get paid after another 60. ~Net 150 from the day incur spends.
7- We are building in this space because I find it interesting. No, we're not making a lot of money.
