Systems Development Engineer IIAmazon
My team at Amazon — Fulfillment Optimization (FO) Support, part of Supply Chain Optimization — is looking for a Systems Development Engineer II to join us. We build and operate the systems behind Amazon's promise, planning, and fulfillment infrastructure, handling millions of requests/sec and powering decisions worth billions of dollars a year.
This isn't a traditional "keep the lights on" support role. We're investing heavily in AI and agentic automation to transform how large-scale systems are diagnosed, remediated, and operated — and you'd be at the center of that shift: building diagnostic agents, automated root-cause analysis, anomaly detection, and self-healing capabilities that prevent issues before they hit customers.
What you'll do:
🔹 Dive deep into complex, high-scale production systems to root-cause and resolve issues
🔹 Design and build AI-powered/agentic support tooling — diagnostics, RCA automation, anomaly detection, auto-remediation
🔹 Apply AI across the dev lifecycle — spec-driven development, agentic workflows — to boost engineering velocity
🔹 Drive operational excellence and reliability improvements across the team's services
🔹 Partner closely with engineering, TPM, and PM stakeholders in an Agile/Scrum environment
What we're looking for:
✅ 3+ years professional software development experience
✅ 2+ years designing/architecting scalable, resilient systems
✅ Proficiency in Python, Java, C++, C#, Golang, or similar
✅ Strong systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, OS)
✅ Bonus: experience with AI/GenAI tooling, agentic frameworks, or AWS services (Lambda, DynamoDB, CloudFormation)
If you love solving hard, ambiguous problems at scale and want to shape how AI transforms operational engineering at Amazon — I'd love to hear from you.
