Kimbal is expanding its utility technology footprint and is seeking a Controls Lead to spearhead the design of sophisticated power plant control systems. You will work closely with our research and engineering teams to build, test, and deploy EMS and SCADA solutions that enable reliable, sustainable energy distribution. This role is pivotal in bridging complex electrical power system requirements with modern software control frameworks.
what you'll do:
- Design and implement robust Energy Management System (EMS) and control architectures for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
- Develop and optimize dispatch algorithms to manage energy market participation and grid stability.
- Manage the integration of SCADA systems, power plant controllers, and field devices using industrial communication protocols.
- Execute control system programming for PLC and RTU hardware to ensure seamless operational flow.
- Ensure all control designs and implementations comply with grid codes, IEEE 1547, and UL 1741 standards.
- Collaborate on the development of cloud-based monitoring and analytics platforms to support data-driven utility insights.
